Horizon Blockchain Games rebrands to Sequence, buys chain abstraction builder Light

Canadian web3 tech and game company Horizon Blockchain Games is officially rebranding to Sequence. Founded in 2017, this move formalizes a process already in play given most developers and partners already refer to the company by the name of its tech suite.
Sequence co-founder and CEO Peter Kieltyka said the “name change is a commitment to clarity – and our mission to unify blockchain ecosystems and empower builders across web3.”
More than just a superficial change, the rebrand also marks the direction the company has taken over the years, now with a greater focus on the integration of its infrastructure stack into its web3 development platform.
Furthermore, in conjunction with the news, Sequence has also announced its strategic acquisition of web3 infrastructure builder Light, which works on blockchain abstraction.
This aligns with Sequence’s recent advancements in embedded cross-chain wallet solutions. A step further toward solving fragmented blockchain interactions, the acquisition showcases Sequence’s commitment of building a unified and accessible experience for developers and users on Ethereum.
“Users should be able to transact on any chain, from any wallet, using any liquid asset – with just one click. With Light’s expertise, we are making this possible. We are unifying Ethereum as one and unleashing its network effects,” said Kieltyka.
Light founder and new head of cross-chain at Sequence Shun Kakinoki added, “Developers need access to all of Ethereum and its buying power, and users want intuitive and seamless experiences. That’s the web3 we’re building – fast, accessible, and seamlessly interoperable.”
