Shrapnel becomes first licensed web3 game on China’s official blockchain

US studio Neon Machine has announced a partnership with the Chinese government to bring extraction shooter Shrapnel to China’s official RWA Trusted Copyright Chain.

A groundbreaking collaboration for the industry, this makes Shrapnel the first foreign game company to launch web3 gaming assets in China.

The RWA Trusted Copyright Chain will use the Shrapnel platform to authenticate the copyright of Shrapnel’s digital assets “such as props and characters”, and facilitate the launch and trading of these assets.

Additionally, the Lingjing People’s Game Lab, a gaming-focused digital content platform from People’s Daily, the official newspaper of the Chinese government, has also come to a preliminary agreement with Neon Machine revolving around the compliant forging, issuance, trading, and localization of digital game assets in the Chinese market.

Neon Machine CEO Ken Rosman commented, “This milestone unlocks significant global potential and sets a strong precedent for how decentralized models can promote global growth, marking just the beginning.”

Built on Avalanche, Shrapnel is a PC-based highly competitive extraction shooter from web3 game developer Neon Machine. Its official launch is expected sometime in 2025.
