While it’s been dipping its toes in the sector since 2018, Ubisoft is finally ready to launch its first blockchain game with Champions Tactics Grimoria Chronicles releasing on 23rd October 2024.
Built for PC and deploying on gaming-centered blockchain Oasys L2 Homeverse, Champions Tactics is a PVP tactical RPG comprising 75,000 Champion NFTs. As for their traits, Champions can have five types of genes and are defined by eight different stats; all significant when setting up your team.
Later on, these champions can also be levelled up through The Forge, a crafting system letting holders merge their champions to create new ones with different skills and abilities.
Players use their characters to strategically assemble teams of three, which are used in deep tactical PVP battles.
At time of writing, 1,910 Champions NFTs are available on the game’s native marketplace, which is on Oasys, starting from 258 OAS ($8.60).
Prior to the Champions mint in July, Ubisoft also minted its free 9,999 strong Warlords PFP collection on Ethereum. These mainly served as tickets for the Champions mint. Still traded on secondary marketplaces however, the PFP’s current floor price is around 0.03 ETH ($67).
