FIFA Rivals set for pre-release in May 2025

Preparing for its global launch in June 2025, Mythical Games’ mobile football/soccer game FIFA Rivals is set for its pre-release in May 2025 in select regions.

Aiming to launch in conjunction with the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup which starts on 14th June 2025, the game is predicted to appeal to millions of international football fans.

Published by Mythical Games, the game is developed by almost 40-strong Colombian startup Bacon Games, who is currently busy fine-tuning the game ahead of its pre-release. According to Bacon Games founders Jairo Nieto and Alejandro González the biggest challenge so far has been FIFA Rivals’ universality, as it aims to support a global player base of millions as well as being playable on any device of any design and operating system.

“It’s a huge responsibility. We take it one day at a time… If we keep thinking about the scale of this project, we’ll be paralyzed by any decision”, Nieto said in an interview with Forbes.

Prior to founding Bacon Games, the duo founded Brainz, a studio best known for World War Doh and which was acquired by US publisher Jam City in 2018.

While little has been revealed about FIFA Rivals’ web3 features, it’s likely to have similarities to Mythical’s first sports mobile game NFL Rivals, in which players can own and trade in-game assets in the form of NFL-licensed American football players on the Mythos blockchain.

In terms of gameplay, FIFA Rivals will differ however, in its addition of fantasy elements.

Describing the game as it was unveiled, Mythical’s CEO John Linden said, “The combination of officially licensed football stars (past and present), prestigious clubs from around the world, and globally competitive esports gameplay will take sports gameplay to a new level.”

“There are major plans to integrate into the FIFA esports platform to give players in every country the ability to become a participant or fan.”
