BoomLand takes over web3 mobile shooter Cantina Royale

Web3 game platform BoomLand has taken over future development of Cantina Royale.

Best known for its mobile action RPG Hunters On-Chain game, BoomLand is a play-to-earn centered multigame ecosystem which has been adding web3 features into traditional mobile titles from parent company BoomBit.

It’s in that context BoomLand has announced its takeover of Cantina Royale, a mobile shooter on the MultiversX blockchain, which has failed to find sufficient traction. This was not helped when its CEO Alexandru Palade died in 2024. The result is the BoomLand team is taking the lead on the development of the game, which will shut down its servers from 28th March until what’s labelled “a massive relaunch” within the BoomLand ecosystem.

“BoomLand will take the lead on development moving forward, breathing new energy into the project while respecting everything that’s been built so far. With a veteran team in mobile gaming, a deep belief in the future of web3, and a clear vision for what comes next, BoomLand is ready to take Cantina Royale to new heights,” it states on X.

In addition, holders of Cantina Royale assets will be rewarded with BoomLand assets via what’s called a 1:1 NFT swap that matches asset rarity, and a token swap that will allow users to swap 7 CRT tokens for 1 BOOM

Obviously a good move for Cantina Royale players, it will be interesting to see if current conditions in the blockchain game sector encourage further such consolidation deals.
