Approaching a year since the launch of web3-enabled MMORPG Night Crows, the game is reported to hit a reported $200 million in lifetime revenue.
Looking to repeat this success, Wemade has launched Legend of Ymir in South Korea. Following its release, the title immediately became the most downloaded game on Google Play on 20th February.
As with Night Crows, it’s a highend Unreal 5 experience on mobile which uses the Wemix blockchain infrastructure. Its player-driven web3 economy debuts something Wemade describes as “Non-Fungible Items” or NFI, a protocol ensuring asset authenticity, rarity, and security.
Each NFI has a unique identification number and includes details of its ownership history and creation date on the blockchain. This system is mainly designed to prevent duplication or manipulation, but could also prove to be a good way of avoiding the pitfalls of speculative pricing.
As for the game itself, Legend of Ymir is a Norse-themed open world MMORPG containing skill-based real-time PVP and PVE battles and dungeons.
Due to the overwhelming demand at launch, Wemade had to expand its server capacity and now supports 18 servers. To celebrate this early success, the developer is rewarding players with exclusive items that can be used in-game to enhance the player experience.
Items include:
- Mani’s Valkyrie summoning ticket
- Mani’s Disir summoning ticket
- Silver coins
